This shipwreck dates back to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), marking it as a significant archaeological find. It is recognized as the first ancient shipwreck found in China's deep-sea waters. The discovery of this shipwreck has provided valuable insights into the shipbuilding, navigation techniques, and overseas trade practices during the Southern Song Dynasty.
The archaeological excavation of the Huaguangjiao One has resulted in the recovery of nearly ten thousand artifacts, with ceramics being the predominant type of artifact found. These ceramics exhibit a variety of glaze colors and styles, offering a glimpse into the artistic and functional craftsmanship of the period. The shipwreck is currently being preserved and restored at the Hainan Museum.
